Separation of slurries can facilitate the nutrient management on farms through partitioning between liquid and solid fraction. The distribution nutrients in slurry fractions depends largely type separator used. current study assessed separation efficiency a two-step treatment pig including in-series screw press centrifuge followed by acidification (to pH 5.9) final effluent. system concentrated 73.8% slurry's Phosphorus (P) content, 52.6% Total solids (TS) 14.4% total Nitrogen to apparent N recovery from ryegrass fertilized with raw non-acidified was not decreased treatment. acidified fraction showed 28% 9% higher compared effluent respectively. biochemical methane production potential (Bo) reduced 50% 25%, counterpart slurry, results highlight double coupled fraction, extract P into which be transported outside farm, increase utilization when this is used as organic fertiliser or nearby farm. further highlights reduce CH4 emissions storage after mechanical
